My vehicle is equipped with a memory function, do I have to reprogram or reset LaneFX every time the memory recalls my mirror position?
No. LaneFX is designed to work in vehicle’s equipped with a memory function. Let’s say that your spouse was driving your vehicle and then you get in the vehicle and press the memory button to reset everything back to your preferences. In this case, LaneFX recalls your mirror position and all of your LaneFX mirror movements will be based on your recalled mirror position. Your customization preferences in LaneFX (such as mirror movement speed, maximum expansion angle, turn signal mode, etc…) are not tied to your vehicle’s memory function. So if another driver modifies your LaneFX preferences, you will have to adjust them again back to your preference.

Will LaneFX work in a vehicle that uses multiplexing / has one or more ECUs (Electronic Control Unit: onboard computer) / has reverse polarity for turn signals & reverse?
Yes. LaneFX’s Intelligent Install Technology is used at the time of installation to automatically learn the electronic configuration of your vehicle. LaneFX goes through this process once at installation and remembers your vehicle’s system configuration from then on, even if the LaneFX unit if disconnected or if your battery dies. In special cases (such as multiplexed vehicles or vehicles that use reverse polarity for some vehicle inputs), your certified installer can take specific steps (as outlined in the installation guide) to ensure proper installation and operation of the LaneFX system.

I have a vehicle that has very slow power mirrors, will I still benefit from a LaneFX system?
Yes. With the optional Mirror Speed Enhancement feature (available in LaneFX Highway Edition and Commuter Edition / New Car Edition), you can boost your mirror movement speed up to 200% (twice as fast as) the factory mirror speed. Even with bulky, slow-moving large SUV mirrors, this optional feature ensures that your LaneFX is responsive to your needs even at highway speeds.

My vehicle already has a feature similar to ParkFX, so why should I get ParkFX with my LaneFX system?
Generally, ParkFX offers greater flexibility than equivalent factory functions. Usually equivalent factory functions come in two flavors: 1) either both mirrors tilt down when you put your vehicle in reverse or neither, OR 2) either the left or right mirror tilt down when you put your vehicle in reverse. An in either case, you do not have an option to adjust how much your mirror tilts down. ParkFX gives you greater flexibility in how you want to expose the parking boundaries around you when you’re backing up. ParkFX allows you to specify whether to tilt the left mirror, right mirror, both mirrors or neither mirror. Additionally, you can personalize the ParkFX tilt-down angle to suit your height and the height of your vehicle. As with all LaneFX customization, you can specify ParkFX preferences using the system’s user-friendly menu-based LCD screen.

My vehicle already has a feature similar to ParkFX, so will ParkFX cause any conflicts with the factory system?
No. ParkFX is designed to co-exist seamlessly with an equivalent factory function without conflict or errors. The system is designed such that you can choose which system you want to activate your mirrors when you put your vehicle in reverse (ParkFX or the factory system). In every vehicle that has an equivalent factory function to ParkFX, the factory system is typically disabled when the power mirror adjustment switch is set in the center (neutral position). So if you set your power mirror adjustment switch to the left or right position, then you are enabling the factory system and ParkFX automatically disables itself. Conversely, if you put your power mirror adjustment switch in the center (neutral) position, then ParkFX safely overrides the factory function without conflict.

I have a right-hand drive vehicle (such as in UK, Japan, Australia, etc…), will the LaneFX system work in my vehicle?
Yes. LaneFX’s Intelligent Install Technology can self-learn the setup of your vehicle once at the time of installation. The system does not use “driver-side” and “passenger-side” orientation, it learns your vehicle’s setup based on a simple left-right orientation.

- Complexity of the vehicle (BMW 750Li is much more complex than a Honda Civic)
- Whether your vehicle is multiplexed (non-multiplexed vehicles are much easier to work with).

Q. What's the difference between Sticky mode and Normal mode in the Turn Signal Link?

A. In NORMAL MODE: LaneFX moves the mirror outward and returns it normally when the turn signal is activated.

In STICKY MODE: when the turn signal is activated, LaneFX expands the mirror outward and keeps it in its maximum expansion position for as long as the turn signal is on. Once the turn signal is deactivated, LaneFX returns the mirror to its original position.

You can choose your favorite turn signal mode using LaneFX's easy LCD menu screen.

Q. What should I do if I can't find Certified LaneFX Installers in my area?

A. Given that all LaneFX systems come with complete hardware and detailed, step-by-step instructions, you can have LaneFX installed at any aftermarket mobile electronics retailer in your area.

Our network of installation partners is growing rapidly. So be sure to check our directory of LaneFX Certified Installation Centers or an aftermarket installation shop near you.

Q. Where is the main LaneFX hardware unit typically installed?

A. The most common locations to install the LaneFX main unit is in the glove compartment (on the passenger side) or in the center console.

Together with your installer, you should find a location inside your vehicle where the LaneFX main unit can be 1) concealed and 2) easily reachable from the driver's seat when entering customizations into the system's screen. Basically, the LaneFX main unit should positioned such that the driver can enter customizations and then try out their effects without having to get up from the driver's seat.

WARNING: Never attempt to enter customizations in the LaneFX main unit while driving or while the vehicle is moving. Always ensure that your vehicle is parked safely before customizing and trying out different LaneFX settings.

Q. Can I skip installing the LaneFX activation buttons and just use my turn signals to activate the system?

A. Yes. The LaneFX activation buttons are not required to complete a LaneFX installation. If you want to operate your LaneFX by only using Turn Signal Link, then you can safely skip the activation buttons.

REMEMBER: Never skip installing the "Mirror In Motion" LED indicator lights. These LED indicators serve an important function and should never be left out of your installation or installed in an area that's not readily visible by the driver.

Q. Who decides where the LaneFX activation buttons and LEDs are placed inside my vehicle?

A. You and your installer should make these decisions together. As a general rule you should choose a location for your activation buttons that is easily reachable. Keep in mind that some owners of LaneFX Commuter Edition opt out of installing the activation buttons in favor of just using their turn signals to activate the system. As for the system's LED's, you should work with your installer to find a location where they can be readily visible. You should never skip installing the LED's as they serve an important function of letting you know when LaneFX is controlling a particular mirror.

Q. Can I get additional / replacement Owner Guides or Installation Guides?

A. Yes. Although printed copies of the LaneFX Owner and Installation Guides are not available, you can download their electronic version directly from the Owner Support Central section.

Q. If my vehicle's battery dies, do I have to enter my preferences in the system all over again?

A. Not at all. LaneFX is designed to recall all of your customization preferences even if the unit loses power.

Q. Is the LaneFX system liquid-proof?

A. No!

CAUTION: The LaneFX system is not designed to withstand moisture or spilled liquids. Exposing your LaneFX system to liquids may cause unrepairable damage that is not covered by the system's standard warranties.

Q. If I have LaneFX can I stop turning my head to check my blind spot?

A. At Drivaware, we recommend that you maintain constant awareness of your surrounding traffic.

WARNING: No electronic system can be a complete substitute to total driver awareness or to your own senses. LaneFX is designed to be a driver awareness support system, but not as a complete substitute to your own senses. We recommend that you exercise caution at all times and to use your best driving judgment on whether to rely on electronic systems in conjunction with your own senses.
